The ISR Mission is to prevent drowning and enrich the lives of children by teaching them to swim.

About Infant Swimming Resource ~ Rita Ranch

Since 2005, I have been dedicated to teaching survival swimming to Tucsoninfants and children.

Over 1300 children have been through the program throughout the Tucsonarea.

Did you know?
...In Arizona drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for infants and young children under the age of 4 years. In the United States, drowning is an epidemic for this age group.

Infant Swimming Resource promotes three lines of defense to help stop this epidemic and protect our children:

· Constant adult supervision in and around the water.

· Maintaining a safer home pool environment.

· Safe, effective survival swimming instruction for children as
    young as 6 months.

(My son Cutter, fully aquatically skilled ISR Graduate at 18 months of age)

Swimming is a recreational skill that can
be enjoyed for a lifetime.  However, first you must
be sure that your child becomes a survivor!

ISR Program

What your child will learn: A baby from 6 months to 12 months will learn how to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their back and float unassisted until someone rescues them. A child over the age of 1 year will learn breathe; then roll back over to resume swimming. This is called the ISR swim-float-swim sequence and they will be able to repeat this sequence until they reach the side of the pool and crawl out. Since most drownings occur while the child is in regular clothing, all children will also learn how to perform these skills fully clothed.

Class Structure: Your child’s classes are 5 days a week, Monday – Friday. Each class will be approximately 10 minutes long with just one child and the instructor in the water. Much is accomplished in a short but very intense private lesson, which will be individualized specifically to meet your child’s needs and abilities. The average time period for a baby to learn the rollback and survival float is about 4 weeks, and for a child over age one to complete the initial swim-float-swim survival skills is about 6 weeks. All children are individually skilled.

Weekly Fees: $75.00 per week made payable to your instructor and due on each Monday prior to start of lessons for that week. (Multiple child, police, military, and active military discounted rate available at $65.00 per week per child.) For all new students, there is a national enrollment fee of $105 to be paid to Infant Swimming Resource. This covers the cost of screening procedures for physical and developmental readiness of your child and also includes your ISR registration package.

Refresher Classes: A short 2 week refresher session is needed annually or every six months to maintain aquatic survival skills as your baby or child’s body changes. These are charged at the same above weekly rates, and a yearly registration fee of $35.
